George S. Garriott, 88, of Collinsville passed away on September 15, 2012. He was born in Dallas on August 29, 1924.

Visitation will be at Slay Memorial Funeral Center located at 400 U.S. 377 in Aubrey, Tx 76227 from 4-6 pm on Sunday, September 16. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 17 at Midway Baptist Church in Aubrey with burial to follow at Tioga Cemetery.

He was a World War II veteran of three years. George was a member of the Hella Temple Shrine and Masonry for 60 years. He served as the Vice President and Director of Operations at Falstaff Beer Distributorship for 10 years. He served in the beer industry for over 40 years. George worked at the State Fair of Texas in some capacity since the age of 13. He was a 14 year employee of Southwestern Bell. George was a member for over 25 years at the American Legion Post #550 where he also served as Post Commander for two years.

Preceded in death by his parents Simion and Lela McDowell Garriott; and sister Grace Lela McDavitt. George married Eloise James on November 23, 1955 in Dallas, and she preceded him in death. George is survived by his son Robert and wife Linda Garriott; three grandchildren, Robert William Garriott Jr., Erin Marie Garriott, Jared Simion Ray Garriott, and one great-grandchild Carson Ray Garriott all of Collinsville, Tx.

Services under the direction of Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
