Gene Hall Smith, 98, of Krum passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at her home she shared with her niece Vickie Gene Cram.
Gene was born to George C. Hall and Myrtle Smith Hall on August 21, 1914 in Leonard, Texas. She married Hubert Smith May 24, 1942, who preceded her in death in June, 1966.They made their home in Pittsburg, Texas where she worked as a nurse at the Pittsburg M and S Hospital ,and was active in the garden club and Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and fisherman.
She moved to Dallas and was a nurse at Gaston Hospital until her retirement in 1988.Later she moved to Corinth, Texas and shared a home with her sister, Pauline Horton.
Gene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and four sisters, and eight nieces and nephews. Survivors include her granddaughter, Shannon Fawcett of Dallas, and several nieces and nephews.
According to her wishes, her body was donated to medical science. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 starting at 4:30 p.m. in the home of Don and Joyce Goldring in North Richland Hills, Texas.
