DECATUR -- Bennie Merle Pannell, 81, a lifetime resident of Decatur; went to be with our Lord, Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Decatur.

Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26th at Greenwood Baptist Church with Reverend Tracy Epting, and Pastors Doug Moreland and Joe Caballero officiating.Interement: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Chris Burton, Ricky Nobles, Mike Tolle, Donald Wayne Meador, Rusty Aaron and Parker Slate.

Bennie Merle was born January 12, 1931 in Decatur to George Newton and Myrtle Karo (Gordon) Stevens. She was united in marriage to Don Waymon Pannell on February 21, 1949 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Bennie Merle was a member of the Greenwood Extension Education Club and Greenwood Baptist Church.

Left behind to cherish her memory are husband, Waymon Pannell of Decatur; daughters, Barbara Meador and husband, Donald, Melinda Aaron and husband, Ray, Sam Slate and husband, Steve all of Decatur, and Vickie Jezek and husband, John of Aubrey; 6 grandchildren, Donald Wayne Meador, Amber Tolle, Randi Anderson, Rusty Aaron, Parker Slate and Raena Slate; 2 great-granddaughters, Shaylynn Meador and Natalie Tolle; nieces, Deborah Martin and Sherri Welty; and nephew, John Brockie.
