Wilma Irene Gillespie ent to be with her Heavenly Father on September 28, 2012 after several severe illnesses. Visitation will be Friday, October 5 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. The funeral service will be October 6, 2012 at 3:00pm. Both the visitation and the funeral service will be at Slay Funeral Home in Aubrey, TX.
Wilma was born to Charles Oscar and Sally Etter Wilson on October 16, 1920 in Gunter, Texas. She was the youngest girl of eight children. She was raised in Gunter, Texas where she graduated. She married Lawrence Conway Gillespie on December 21, 1940 in Fayetteville, NC. They lived in Aubrey, Texas and were very active in their church. She moved to Fort Worth in 2004 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Highland Church of Christ. She was also a member of Everman Chapter #624 Order of the Eastern Star. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, mother, father, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Survivors: son Wayne Gillespie and wife Mary; daughter Sandy Trimble and husband Rick; Grandchildren: Tammi Todd, Jennifer Shaw and husband Michael, Amy Burgdorf and husband Brian, Crystal Langston and husband Steve, Angela Gillespie, Kathy Trimble, Eric Trimble, Brian Trimble, Patrick Topp, James Topp; Great-grandchildren: Hunter Todd, Corrine Trimble, Anthony Shaw, Brian Trimble, Aaron Shaw, Ellie Burgdorf, Hannah Langston; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
