Georgia Mae Head (1925-2012)

Georgia Mae Head, 87, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2012 in Emmett, ID, after a long illness of dementia & heart ailments. Her son, Jeff & daughter-in-law, Gail, were at her side. She will be missed greatly, but has found release & happiness in passing. She’s now reunited with her husband, Lee, & Savior, Jesus Christ.

Georgia was born Georgia Mae Spacil in Houston, TX on July 22, 1925 to Albert & Albina Spacil. Georgia was raised during the great depression in their large family of one brother (who died in World War I) & five sisters. She was attending college in Houston in 1943 when she met Albert Lee Head Jr. who was studying engineering at Rice University while completing officer training for the Navy. Lee went to war in the Pacific & returned in 1946. They were married in Houston on April 17, 1948. They moved to Dallas, TX & had four sons; Lee, Greg, Jeff, & Paul, between 1952 & 1959. They realized a life-long dream by building a home on a small ranch in 1967. In 1970, Lee & Georgia joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Georgia was very active with her boys, in political issues, her church, & later, in her business, the Diet Center of Denton, TX. Her four sons all graduated from Denton High School. They gave her fourteen grandchildren & eighteen great-grandchildren. Georgia loved them all dearly. She & Lee served a mission for their Church in the late 1990s to Alabama. Georgia was a dear, compassionate woman dedicated to her strong beliefs in Christ, liberty & the foundational values of the traditional family in America.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lee Head Jr. on January 20, 2004, & her son, Gregory Allen Head on July 3, 2004. She is survived by a her son Lee of Bolivar, TX, his wife Brenda & their family; by her son, Jeff of Emmett, ID, his wife Gail & their family; & by her son Paul, of Long Island, NY, his wife & their daughter & Paul's other family. She is also survived by her sister, Esther Porto, of Houston, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 12, 2012, at the LDS Church Malone Street Chapel in Denton, TX. Burial will follow in the Bolivar Cemetery under the direction of the DeBerry Funeral Directors of Denton.
