Edward Lawrence Cordell, Jr. died October 5, 2012.
Edward was born in Dallas, Texas on June 28, 1918 He attended High School and Business College in Dallas. In 1943 he went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad and was kept as essential during World War II. However, he flew Search and Rescue. This was in El Paso, Texas. He had a long career in General Aviation for sixty-four years. In 2004 Ed was given the Master Pilots Award for over fifty years of flying with no accidents.
In 1945 he married Jean Bowers. They had three sons, Edward III, John, and Stephen, one daughter, Kathryn. In 1964 Ed was transferred to San Jose, California. Jean died in 1973.
In 1980 Ed married Nina Anderson in San Jose, California. They had been high school sweethearts.
Ed retired in 1983 and they moved to Denton, Texas. He continued to fly until recently. In 2009 they moved to Good Samaritan Village.
Ed has donated his body to Southwestern Medical Center. A memorial will be held when ashes are returned.
