Charlotte Nix Hagan of Bedford, Texas, died on October 13, 2012, in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was92 years old.
Mrs. Hagan was the second of four children of Nellie Barker and Hulie Clayton Nix. She was born and raised in Logan County, West Virginia. Mrs. Hagan graduated with honors from Marshall University in Huntington in 1942. After graduation she married William T. Hagan (deceased 2011). During WWII her husband served in the army in New Guinea, and she returned to Logan County, where she taught school.
After the war, the couple moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where Mr. Hagan earned a Ph.D. They then spent fifteen years in Denton, Texas, where Mr. Hagan taught at University of North Texas; twenty-five years in Fredonia, New York, where he taught at SUNY Fredonia; and finally twenty-four years in Norman, Oklahoma, where Mr. Hagan retired from teaching at University of Oklahoma. In 2010 they moved to Bedford, Texas, to be near their two sons.
Mrs. Hagan is survived by her four children: Tom Hagan (Marilyn), Martha Ruffman (Joel, deceased), Dan Hagan (Nancy) and Sarah Esser (Wayne). In addition she had seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the heart of the family and is sorely missed.
