Funeral services for Kenneth B. Murray, age 88, of Sherman, TX will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Dr. Jared Maier of Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church will officiate and burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.

Ken passed away on October 30, 2012 at the Hilltop Haven Nursing Home in Gunter, TX.

He was born on July 30, 1924 in Bokchito, OK the son of Thomas A. Murray Sr. and Eithel Witherspoon Murray. Although he was born in Oklahoma, he was raised on the family farm in Ector, TX.He married Alda Lee Byron on May 9, 1945. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2002. Ken was a faithful member and Deacon of Northpark Baptist Church in Sherman. He owned and operated Ken Murray TV INC. for more than 50 years and was known by many for his character and sense of humor. Ken loved sports. During the 1960’s he organized a very successful fast pitch softball team, winning championships in Texas and Oklahoma. Ken was a soft-spoken servant, who cherished his faith, family and friends.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Meadows of Sherman, TX, three grandchildren, Amy Underwood and husband Chad of Melissa, TX, Kelly Maier and husband Jared of McKinney, TX and Jared Taylor and wife Kristi of Denton, TX, one great granddaughter, Callie Underwood and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Kay Beth Murray Gooch and two brothers, Gaylon Murray and Tom Murray Jr.

Family night will be held on Thursday, November 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home on N. Travis in Sherman.
