Graveside services for Ellsworth Dewey “Dee” Sallee will be held on Friday December 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman, TX. He died December 24, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, TX. Rev. Brian Spurgin will officiate and arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, TX.

Dee was born on November 1, 1922 to John and Alpha Garoutte Sallee in Mena, Arkansas. He married Marilyn Marie Fitzgerald on December 22, 1946 in Sherman, TX. He flew as a fighter pilot in WWII and Korea in the Army Air Corp and the U.S. Air Force, obtaining rank as Major. Dee retired from American Airlines as a Captain on November 1, 1982. His last flight was from Los Angeles to Honolulu on a Boeing 747 with 526 passengers.

He is survived by four sons, Dana Sallee of Sherman, Edward Sallee and wife Patsy of Krugerville, Gary Sallee of Colorado Springs, CO and Gordon Sallee and wife Colleen of Denton, and one daughter, Diana Renfrow and husband Ronnie of Kemp. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dee was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, a grandchild, his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Family will receive friends Thursday, December 27 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
