Doyle Wayne Long, our beloved Daddy and Papaw, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2012.

He was born August 17, 1933 in Chico, Texas to Earnest Edgar & Ina Mae Holt Long.  He married the love of his life, Ema Lu Williams on July 3, 1954.  They were married 54 ½ years at the time of her death on January 9, 2009.

They lived in Ponder all their lives and raised four children there.

Daddy was the hardest working man all his life, doing many jobs from cross country trucking to train wreck salvaging.    He always said he had to work to feed his four kids. He ended his working career as a driver for Denton County Road and Bridge. Even in his illness the last three years, he was always trucking.

In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing with his grandkids and raising a large garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Olan, Milford, Lloyd, and Travis Long; his sister Evelyn Stack, his wife Ema Lu and his two four legged children Curly Bill and Seymour.

Words are not enough to express the appreciation for all the staff at Sterling House, Denton.  Each one cared for Daddy, loved him and did everything they could to try and please him and make him comfortable.

He is survived by one sister, Ruby Nell Wortman of Ponder; his children: two daughters, Amanda Henry and Wonaka Williams of Ponder and his two sons, Jeff Long of Denton and Calvin Long of Ponder.  He also had 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons:  Josh, Jason and Steve Long of Ponder, Josh Yoakum of Ponder, Chris Henry of Keller, and John Williams of Ponder.

Honary Pallbearers will be:  Charlie Williams, Bobby Henry, Tommy Lyles, Philip French and Brendan Wilbanks.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 6-8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Ponder with Rev. Kim Broadstreek officiating. Burial will follow at Eakins Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to:  Eddie Deussen Scholarship in Care of Ponder ISD, 400 West Bailey, Ponder or the Ponder Volunteer Fire Dept at PO Box 386, Ponder, TX  76259.
