Lady Luann Marshburn Fulkerson Shaw, 70, of Tioga, TX, died Monday, Dec. 31, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am at the Tioga United Methodist Church, Saturday, Jan. 5, in Tioga, TX. A graveside service will be held later at 3:00 pm Saturday at Sparkman Hillcrest in Dallas, TX. Family visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Slay Memorial Funeral Home in Aubrey, TX.
Lady Marshburn was born Jan. 30, 1942 in Many, LA, to Luther and Jessmine Marshburn.
She was united in marriage to Robert Webster Fulkerson, Jr. in 1960. They were the parents of three children: Debra, Lisa and Robert. Her husband died in 1981. In 2002, Lady married James Shaw. Through this marriage she gained another daughter, Betty Shaw.
She developed her creativity in her father’s flower shop in Dallas, TX. She could do anything artistic. During her youth she attended the First United Methodist Church in Dallas, TX.
After graduating from high school, she sang in the SMU Opera Company. Lady was a graduate of the San Marcus Academy.
She was employed by the Denton State School until she was forced to resign due to health issues. She loved every day she was able to help the boys she worked with in the dorms.
She painted, created floral displays, remodeled old houses, recovered furniture and even helped Jim Shaw restore an old tractor by recovering the seat.
Mrs. Shaw was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Tioga.
She was a friend to everyone she knew and never had anything negative to say about anyone. She could find the beauty in anything. She was a loving wife and no one could ask for a better mother, mother- in -law or grandmother.She brought out the best in everyone she touched.Our challenge through life is to continue the lessons of kindness and forgiveness that she lived daily.
Survivors include: daughters, Debra Scherer of Houston, TX, Lisa Swaim of Aubrey, TX and Betty Shaw of Denison, TX; one son, Robert Webster Fulkerson III of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Patresa Everett, Robert Fulkerson IV, Heather Fulkerson, Kevin Scherer, and Katlyn Scherer, all of Houston, TX and Jeremy Swaim of Aubrey, TX., and one great granddaughter, Marcie Everett of Houston, TX.
She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Marshburn; her mother, Jessmine Marshburn Rodgers; her husbands, Robert Fulkerson, Jr. in 1981 and James Shaw in 2007.
