Funeral services for Loretta Alexander 94, who passed away on January 7, 2013, at age 94 will be held on Saturday January 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville Tx.with the David Dunson officating with burial to follow in the Era Cemetery. She was born near Graham, TX, on February 26, 1918, to John and Breckie Ellen Couger.She had six brothers including Gene, John Vernon, Leroy, Frank, Bill, and Rupert.Loretta graduated from Graham High School.She worked during World War II for Standard Oil and was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Gainesville, TX.
In 1948, Loretta married Max Kenneth Alexander of Era, a decorated veteran of World War II,who preceded her in death on October 3, 2001.Loretta and Kenneth were engaged in farming and ranching in the Era community for many years where both were involved in civic and community affairs including the Era Community Club and the Era Methodist Church.
In recent years, Loretta has resided in Wheeler House in Gainesville and the Willow Bend Assisted Care Community in Denton.
She is survived by sisters-in-law Helen Roberson of Denton, Reba Handwerk of Amelia, VA., Jane Alexander of Valley View, and Mary Alexander of Gainesville as well as numerous nieces and nephews
Pallbearers are Alex Willamson, Russell Hagg, Charles Allbright, Rodney Alexander, John Alexander and Jason Alexander.
