Louie Ford Fittz or otherwise known as “Lou”, 89 of Denton passed away January 8th at Denton Regional Medical Center.He was born March 20, 1923 in Ajax, LA to Andrew Griggs Fittz and Allie Bennett Hall Fittz.He received an associate degree from UT Arlington before serving in the U.S. Navy. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and later in Korea.While in the Navy, he received his flight wings for naval aviator.He also received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Methodist University.In 1951, he became a pilot for Braniff International Airlines eventually advancing to captain, serving as a pilot for 32 years.He married Gearline Smith on September 7, 1948 in Wichita Falls.She preceded him in death on August 25, 2006.

Louie was a member of the NRA, and BISE (Braniff Int’l Silver Eagles) 

Graveside Services will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.Family will be receiving friends Friday between 10:30 and 12:30 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

He is survived by a daughter Laura and husband Joey Skinner of Denton, son, Eric and wife Teri Fittz of Corinth, Lou was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Grandchildren include Cory Bateman and wife Samantha; Allison Skinner, Grant Skinner, Chandler Rawlings and Taylor Fittz.Three precious great grandchildren include Xander, Sofia, and MaKayla Bateman.

Lou is also surveyed by sister in law, Uarline Lamb and her husband Robert of Argyle, sister in law, Carol Hall and niece(s) Kathy Hall Anyans and husband Mike of Natchitoches, LA, Kelly Hall Cordray and husband Greg of Texarkana, nephew(s) Dr. M Kenny Hall III and wife Terri of Marshall, and Kelon Carter Hall and wife Dawn Mullikin of Hallsville, and Tommy Valliere and wife Laurie of Muenster, TX.
