William H. (Bill) Ruehle, 84 of Denton passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at his residence and in the company of his family.He was born November 1, 1928 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to American born mining engineer August Ruehle and Mary Crowley Ruehle.He has been married to Joan Rae Minton for 58 years. He served in the U.S. Navy.He had a distinguished career with Mobil Oil Corporation before his retirement.
He attended Colorado School of Mines where he obtained BS in geology and a MS in geophysics. He attended UCLA where he received his PhD in physics and later did advanced studies at SMU. His career at Mobil Oil spanned 37 years starting as an engineer on seismic exploration crews and culminating with the position of Chief Geophysicist for Exploration and Production. He lead projects all over the world and was an innovator in the field of oil exploration and production with 30 patents to his credit.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Rae of Denton; daughter, Catherine Ruehle of Fort Worth; sons, Patrick Ruehle of Argyle, Kevin Ruehle of Rogers, AR, Matthew Ruehle of Ovilla, and Bill Ruehle of Ovilla, their spouses and 8 grandchildren and his brother, Bob Ruehle of Houston.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
