Katie Marie Calhoun Stevens, 58, a teacher, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, February 3, 2013 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6th at First Baptist Church with Reverends Ken May and Gerre Joiner and Stephen Wren officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church.
Pallbearers include Donald Bryant, Larry Bryant, Jim Bryant, Dale Calhoun, Butch Calhoun, Brad Calhoun, and Randy Bennett.
Katie was born July 11, 1954 in Gainesville, Texas to Weldon Ben and Betty Evelyn (Bryant) Calhoun.She was united in marriage to Charles Louis Stevens on December 28, 1976 in Greenwood, Texas.
Katie was a graduate of Slidell High School and of East Texas State University where she received her Bachelor’s in education.She began her 32 year career in teaching at Montague ISD, Nocona ISD and Decatur ISD.Katie was a member of the Wise County Relay for Life, the Susan G. Komen of North Texas and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles Stevens; two daughters, Kristi Stevens of Frisco and Courtney Stevens of Decatur; mother, Betty Calhoun of Decatur and brother, James Calhoun and friend, Debra Lester of Krum; and numerous other family members and a host of friends.
