Arthur John Schon, 96, was born July 19, 1916, in Custor, Ohio, the fourth child of Peter and Mary Agnes (LaFountain) Schon.He had five brothers and one sister: Louis, Lawrence, Frederick, Pearl Huschke, Johnny, and Raymond. The family moved to Pilot Point in 1926.In 1941, he entered the Army.He was a member of the 41st Division, H Company, the 186th infantry and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Arthur married Christine Berend of Pilot Point on November 26, 1946 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. 

He is survived by three children: James, who married Barbara Sandmann on February 20, 1971, Nelda, who married Thomas Casbon on May 26, 1992, and Don who married Sandi Czubakowski on June 25, 1994; three grandchildren: Melissa, who married Robert Simpkins, Pamela, who married Matthew Bjork, and Ryan Schon, and three adorable great-granddaughters: Audrey Ann, Ella Rose and Lora Marie.

Arthur was a farmer, a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and Men’s Club, an Honorary Life member of the Pilot Point Knights of Columbus Council No. 2045 and a member of the American Legion Vaughn Walling Post 550 in Pilot Point.

A rosary will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 7:00PM at Slay Memorial Funeral Center Pilot Point.A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 10:00AM with Father James Flynn officiating.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 400 St. Thomas Aquinas Avenue, Pilot Point, TX 76258.
