Betty Rose Warren Thetford, 85, of Denton, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 18, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.Betty was born in Chattanooga, TN, on March 27, 1927.She grew up in Baton Rouge, LA, and attended LSU until she married her soul mate, Paul (“Pete”) Edward Thetford, in 1948.She spent her life raising her children, caring for their home, volunteering, and being a partner to her beloved husband.
Betty was an avid birdwatcher and conservationist, volunteering many hours to the Sierra Club and the local Water Watch Program.She also volunteered for the League of Women Voters. She loved the outdoors, travelling with Pete all across the country in their RV.She also spent many hours volunteering at the Denton Community Food Center and delivering for Meals on Wheels.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband.She is survived by her sisters Edna Dunaway of Baton Rouge, LA, Joyce Gilbert of Zachary, LA, and Patty Guillot of Denham Springs, LA; brothers John Warren of Denham Springs, LA, and Joe Warren of River Oaks, TX; daughter Paula McCormick of Denton, sons Charles Thetford of Denton and Robert Thetford of Olympia, WA; her daughter-in-law Suzanne Thetford and son-in-law Patrick Duffy; grandchildren Shane McCormick, Lauren Gonzalez, and Michael Thetford; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.Services are pending.
