Mr. Everett D. Hawhee, age 81, of Crockett, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in the Houston County Nursing Home. He was born March 21, 1932 in Wewoka, Oklahoma and had lived in Crockett for the past 14 years. Mr. Hawhee was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the Crockett Lions Club and Airlines Flight Association. Mr. Hawhee had worked as the Director of Quality Control for Southwest Airlines where he retired after many years of service. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crockett.

Survivors include wife, Sue Rains Hawhee of Crockett; step-sons, Jimbo Rains and wife, Debbie of Crockett, Rusty Rains and wife, Sandra of Crockett; sister, Martha Ann Gahagan and husband, J. R. of Wichita Falls; step-grandchildren, Jim Casey Rains of Houston, Michael Rains of Houston, Jason Horton of Grapeland; step-great-grandchildren, Macie and Kolbi Horton. Preceded in death by wife, Jimmie Ruth Hawhee.

Funeral services for Mr. Everett D. Hawhee will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery in Alba. Family will receive friends Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Young at Hearts c/o First United Methodist Church, 701 E. Goliad Ave., Crockett, TX 75835.
