Roy C. Knight, age 70, of Denton, Texas, died peacefully on April 11, 2013. He was born April 22, 1942, in Tyler, Texas to Cleo C. Byrum and Ruth B. (Byrum) Knight. He married Patricia A. Creighton in Minneapolis, MN in 1979.

He graduated from Sam Houston High School in Houston, TX in 1960 and from Baylor University in 1964. While at Baylor he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega, National Service Fraternity. Later he received his Masters in Economics from St. Mary's University in San Antonio.

Roy served in the Texas National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1973. He was an employee of General Motors Service Parts Operations for 35 years and retired in 1999. He worked in many cities in his years with GM and made wonderful friendships along the way.

He is survived by his wife, Pat, of 34 years; daughter, Stefany A. Berry and husband David of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Davis L. Berry and Emma K. Berry; mother, Ruth Knight of Tyler, TX and brothers Michael Knight of Waxahachie, TX and Charles Knight of Tyler, TX and eight nieces and nephews.

Some of the loves of his life included his family and friends, hunting, fishing, baseball, tennis, golf, and cooking on his grill. He was Men's Tennis Singles Champion for the City of Houston in 1960 and got his golf "hole-in-one" in 1979. Roy was thought to have never met a stranger and his outgoing personality allowed him to touch many lives.

He is preceded in death by Cleo Byrum, father; Troy R. Knight, stepfather, and Richard C. Knight, brother.
