Cecil Leon Lauderdale, age 64, of Denton, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 27.
He was born in Lewisville, the youngest of three children of Ed and Juanita Lauderdale. He graduated from Denton High School in 1966 and attended the University of North Texas. He was employed by Piggly Wiggly for more than 30 years, followed by a second career in the construction industry.
Cecil was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed golfing, playing guitar, fishing, sharing good times with friends, but his greatest joy was the mutual love he shared with the granddaughters he claimed, Morgan and Madilynn, daughters of Jon and Sjonica Mallard.
In addition to his parents, Cecil is survived by Carolyn Schertz Mallard, his companion for 17 years, brother Vic Lauderdale of Denton, sister Jo Ann Merrit and husband Bill of Lewisville, stepson Matt Akins and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4 at 6:00 pm at the Krum Masonic Lodge at 230 N. Second Street in Krum, Texas.
