Alta Franks, age 71, a resident of Justin, TX, formerly of Roanoke and Irving, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine. Born April 9, 1942 in Copper Hill, TN, she was the daughter of Travis Alton Fenner and Ruth Lula Crisp Fenner. She graduated from high school in Irving, Texas in 1960. She married Raleigh L. "Buddy" Franks July 1, 1962 in Irving. She was a homemaker and member of Memorial Baptist Church in Irving. She had many newspaper routes and taught her children and others the work ethic of that trade. Known as Alta by most, she was called "Mamaw" by her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Travis A. Fenner, and her son Joshua Lee Franks, September 7, 2012.

She is survived by her husband, R. L. "Buddy" Franks, Jr. of Justin; her children, Renee Rosales and husband Javier of Lewisville, Shannon Eades and husband Richard, Carrie Fink, Sarah Baland and husband Sterling, and Jay Franks and wife Wennie all of Justin; a brother Ronald Fenner of Allen; a sister Dena Farrar of Irving; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren with one on the way.

The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, 606 W. Airport Freeway in Irving. A memorial service will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. William Few of Memorial Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
