Jo Ann graduated from Sanger High School in 1957, where she had many dear friends better known as the "Ya-Ya's". On September 5, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart Neal Odom. She was the mother of two sons and the beloved Mema to five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. For the majority of her life she was a homemaker. However, she did work for the City of Sanger for three years. She was actively involved in the community. She served as an officer in the Sanger Ex-Students Association and the Bolivar Cemetery Association. She was a member of First Baptist Church Sanger.

Survivors include husband Neal Odom, two sons and their spouses: Ken and Trudy Odom, and Chris and Ashley Odom of Sanger, Texas; five grandchildren Lindsay and Richard Perez of Bangs, Texas, Meredith and Jerrod Hill of Weatherford, Texas, Austin, Allison, and Abigail Odom of Sanger, Texas; five great-grandchildren Sadie, Aidan and Kade Perez and Colton and Cora Ann Hill; one brother Jerry Dyer and his wife Donna of Sanger, Texas; brothers and sisters in law: Dale and Laverne Odom of Denton, Texas, Jimmy and Marion Odom and Janelle and Gray Shelton of Sanger, Texas; and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at First Baptist Church Sanger, with Pastor Dr. Greg Johnson officiating assisted by Jeff Higgs. The family will be receiving guests an hour before the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sanger Education Foundation P.O. Box 429 Sanger, Texas 76266.
