Fred Otto Smith left his earthly body to meet the love of his life in Heaven on Wednesday, July 3, 2013. He was born October 29, 1931 in Wise County to Fred Otto and Sarah Emma Rhine Smith. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He married Nettie Florine Sparkman on May 14, 1960 in Denton, Texas. Fred retired from ACME Brick with 38 years of service.

He and Nettie raised some fine Quarter Horses on their Circle Bar S Ranch and were lifetime members of the American Association of Sheriff Posses and Riding Clubs, where he served as Region 4 Vice President for several years. He was a member and past Captain of the Denton County Sheriff's Posse and traveled many miles as sponsor for the Denton County Junior Sheriff's Posse. He worked many hours so kids could enjoy outings and sports with their horses.

Fred is survived by 2 sisters, Ruth Murdock and Dot Thompson, both of Denton, 2 daughters, Vickie Smith Hilliard and Linda Renea Smith, both of Sanger, 4 grandchildren, Shara Lynn Hilliard of Sanger, Jessica Alane Hilliard of Celina, Cheyenne and Kenna Smith of Aubrey, one great granddaughter, Arianna Lynn Hilliard of Sanger, loving companion Jerri Card of Valley View and special friend, Donna Rust of Justin. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and grandson, Jeremiah Levi Hilliard.

The family wishes to give a very special thank you to Home Hospice for their loving support and assistance.

Visitation will be at Christ the Great Shepard Church in Sanger, Saturday, July 6, 2013 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. with the service following at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dewey Lang officiating. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.
