Anna Mae Chraska passed away peacefully on June 7, 2013 from breast cancer with family by her side. She recently celebrated her 78th birthday. Ann was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ann and her husband Donald of 56 years, relocated to Denton, Texas in 2006, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Ann is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Chraska; eldest son, Donnie Chraska of St. Louis, Missouri; son Dan Chraska and his wife Karen Craft Chraska, and grandchildren Caroline, Carter and Chloe of Copper Canyon, Texas; and daughter, Margie Chraska Mohr and her husband Dan Mohr of Lewisville, Texas, and granddaughter Marion Lienhop of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is also survived by her dear sisters Evelyn Ward and Rosemarie Magilson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents Eileen and John McGovern; siblings Mary Kay McGovern McManus, Eileen McGovern Bittner, Tommie McGovern, and Jerry McGovern; foster family Jenny and Neil Ley, James Ley, Ray Ley, Clair Marie Ley Meyers and Eileen Ley Easton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann graduated in 1953 from Schenley High School in Pittsburgh and worked as an operator for Bell Telephone. Years later, she worked for Wilma’s Catering in Millvale. She will forever be remembered for her positive and upbeat attitude, great sense of humor, and selfless acts of kindness. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, cooking, cheering for her Pittsburgh Steelers football team, and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Her unwavering strength, courage, selflessness and devotion to friends and family are her legacy.
A memorial mass in Ann’s honor will be held on Friday, July 12th at 5PM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 2800 Pennsylvania Drive, Denton, Texas 76205, followed by a celebration of life reception from 7-9PM at the Flower Mound Family Funeral Home, 3550 Firewheel Drive, Flower Mound, Texas 75028.
