Walter Fleming Garland departed to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, July 21, 2013. Walter (Walt) was born on July 17, 1931, in Estes Park, Colorado, to Ben and Carolyn Garland. At five years old they moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where the remainder of his childhood was spent. He is survived by his wife, Millie Garland; his brother, George (Judy) Garland; three step sons, Stephen (Michelle) Frazier, Timothy (Robin) Frazier, and Michael (Shelby) Frazier; one stepdaughter, Charylcie (Keith) Wilemon; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by Elizabeth Garland and his parents.

A graduate of Cedarville University and Grace Seminary, Walter taught in the public schools for a season, and then served as head administrator for several Christian private schools through the remainder of his career. He also served on the board of the Association of Christian Schools International, leading schools through accreditation.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes his memory to be honored with donations to the Denton Bible Church building or missions fund, or the Walter Fleming Garland Memorial Fund, supporting the DBC Young Guns program.

A visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, July 23, at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home on 705 N. Locust St. in Denton. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Denton Bible Church Chapel with Pastor Tom Nelson officiating.
