Mr. Billy Eugene "Chick" Allen, 85, of Denton, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the home of his son, Sammy in Randolph, TX. Bill was a devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, loyal and faithful servant of the Christian faith. He was a proud Dentonite and Texan who loved to listen to gospel and bluegrass music and recount stories and folklore of years gone by. It is a known fact that Bill Allen never met a stranger due to his warm smile and kind personality. He was born October 13, 1927 in Little Elm, TX to Charles F. and Azlee O. (Griffin) Allen. Upon graduation of Frisco High he went on to serve with the U.S. Navy. After his service, he married Ms. Mary Helen Burnsed on September 2, 1949 in Little Elm, TX. The happy couple then made Denton their home where Bill began his career as a printer for Moore Business Forms. Bill and Mary were blessed with four children and enjoyed spending time with their children in all areas of church, school and sporting events. He was a deeply committed church member and served at First Baptist Church of Denton, Texas where he was recognized with the title of Deacon Emeritus. After his retirement from Moore Business Forms he completed his printing career at the University of North Texas.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Allen of Denton, son, Sam Allen and wife Angela of Randolph, TX, daughter Deborah Wirtz and husband Mark of Denton, TX, daughter Marlene Allen and husband Drennon Jr. of El Lago, TX, and daughter Rebecca French and husband Rick of Denton, TX. Mr. Allen doted on his six granddaughters, Rachel Durham, Natalie Braley, Deserea Paisley, Gretchen Schroeder, Haley Harrington, and Molly French. The Allen lineage continues with Mr. Allen's great grandchildren: Michael and Morgan Durham, Gabriel Braley, Rory Harrington, and Garrett Paisley. Mr. Allen is survived by his sister Gayle O'Bryant, He was preceded in death by sister, Bobbye Scarbrough, and brother Don Mike Allen.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24th at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home located at 705 N. Locust, Denton from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Memorial service will be held Thursday, July 25th at 11:00 A.M. in the Cindy Nichols Chapel of the First Baptist Church located at 1100 Malone St. Denton. Graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
