Helen Akweleu Anang passed away on August 13th, 2013 at her home.
Helen was born on May 5th, 1958 in Congo to Emmanuel Lamptey and Josephine Tomba. She was a loving mother of two who came to the United States in 1998 to establish a home so that her children could pursue a degree of higher education in the US. She became a US citizen in 2005.
Helen was a woman of deep faith who loved the Lord and people. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and inviting friends to join her at church. Her career was spent in serving others as she provided direct care and as a certified nursing assistant with several agencies, and in customer service roles at the University of North Texas and most recently with Wal-Mart.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Odatey Lamptey of Ghana. She is survived by two children and one son-in-law, Chilvers Anang, Belinda Anang and Merle Williams all of Denton; three grandchildren, Sabra and Darius Williams, and Ayon Emmanuel Anang; two brothers Joseph Lamptey of Norway, and Oko Lamptey of Ghana; and one sister Mary Jeanne Ferand of France.
Helen's funeral service will be held Saturday, August 24th at First Presbyterian Church, 1114 W. University Dr. at 11:00 a.m.; with a graveside service immediately following at Oakwood cemetery in Denton. The family will receive visitors preceding the service at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
