John David Andrews, 93, of Ocala, Fl. passed away on August 25. J. D. was born on April 3, 1920, to John & Georgia Routh Andrews in rural Chatham County N. C. He married LaVerna York on January 18, 1941 & they made Siler City, N. C. their home for almost 50 years. J. D. & LaVerna retired in 1981 & spent their winter months in Naples, Fl. J. D. was a member of the First Wesleyan Church since 1927 & he served as a trustee at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S. C.
After the death of his wife, LaVerna, he married Audrey Iverson of Naples, Fl. In 2005, they moved to Ocala.
J. D. was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, his parents, & all 12 of his siblings. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; daughter Priscilla Sanders of Denton; sons Rev. Fred (Sonnie) of Central, S. C. & Jerry (Betty) of Crescent City, Fl. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Scott Sanders, formerly of Denton, now residing in Chicago; Melanie Stickland, Cumming, Ga; & Allyson Andrews, Nashville, Tn. & four great grandsons: Andy, Alex, Aaron, & Hayden.
The family will hold visitation at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City on Friday, August 30. The funeral service will be at the First Wesleyan Church in Siler City on August 31.
