Dempsey Floyd Cozby, 86, of Denton TX left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2013 after a lengthy illness of diabetes. He was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Grand Saline, TX., the youngest of seven children to Claude and Tinnie Cozby. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII right out of school and served on the USS Doran as an Electrician Mate Mine Sweeper. He attended North Texas Agriculture College and IBM Business School. He married Patricia Jeanne Nunn on December 27, 1946 in Dallas, TX. They were married for 61 years.
Demp worked for IBM in Dallas, TX as a Computer Engineer for 34 years retiring in 1982. During his retirement he and Pat enjoyed traveling the United States with their RV. They were members of the Good Sam RV Club. After their RVing days they moved to Denton, TX and resided at the Good Samaritan Village in Denton for 12 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Denton, TX and also attended the chapel at Good Samaritan Village.
Survivors include, Doug Cozby (son) of Baytown, TX, David Cozby (son) of Yakima, WA and daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Ken Simon, of Red Lodge, MT. Grandkids, Saundra and Ronnie Sitt; Nikki and Gary House; Whitney Cozby, Jordin Cozby; Chris Hester; Andrew and Ali Hester; and Shawndel and Tim Blakemore; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, and two sisters and his wife. Demp lived in Texas all his life except for the last couple of months where he resided in Yakima, WA.
A memorial service honoring our beloved dad will be at Good Samaritan Denton Village chapel on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Good Samaritan Denton Village or Diabetes Foundation.
