Guy Cullins, 64, of Kerrville, TX passed away on August 31, 2013 at his home in Kerrville. He was born in Pecos, TX to Dorothy and Austin Cullins on July 25, 1949. He married Ginger Mitchell on December 16, 1978 in Texarkana, AR.
He went to school in Pecos, then Kerrville until his junior year at Tivy. He finished high school in Victoria. He graduated from North Texas State University in 1971 where he was a 4 year letterman and captain of the golf team for 2 years. Guy was selected twice for the All American team. After college he was 8th ranked amateur in 1972 by Golf Digest. He won the Southwestern Amateur and was 2nd in the Southern Amateur in 1972. He won Pinecrest All-American Classic and was 2nd in the Trans-Miss Amateur in 1973. He qualified for the PGA Tour in 1976 and 1979. He played in 2 US Opens and a PGA Championship. Guy was a PGA Professional for 33 years.He started his career as an assistant pro at Denton Country Club under his father, Austin Cullins. He served as head pro at Nolan River Country Club in Cleburne, Tx. and at Northridge Country Club in Texarkana, TX.
His last position was as head professional at Scott Schreiner Golf Course in Kerrville, TX for 23 years. After retiring in 2008, he remained on as the teaching pro. Teaching was his true love.
Guy was preceded in death by his father, Austin Cullins and his mother, Dorothy Cullins. He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Ginger, his loving brother, Danny and his wife, Trena, and their daughter, Avery, all of Kerrville. Sister-in-law, Fran Mitchell of Texarkana, TX.And his four legged children: Bernie and Molly (the dogs) and Sam (the cat) as well as his extended family and numerous friends.
There will be a memorial service at 10:00 am, on Monday, September 9th at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville. Casual wear and/or golf attire would be appreciated.

Kerrville or any charity you wish.
The family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to Peterson Hospice. Everyone there was so kind and caring. They helped Guy and the family with loving hands and open hearts. Our special angel was Julie House-Rhoda, our hospice nurse.She helped us through this difficult time with a great amount of tenderness. She will always be in our hearts. We also want to thank the community for the out pouring of the thoughts and prayers over the past year. We are blessed.
