Bob McKee was born in Kentucky on June 28, 1937 and died peacefully at his home in Denton, Texas on September 3, 2013. Bob was affectionately known by family, friends, and neighbors alike as simply "Pop".

Pop lost both of his parents at age seven. Overcoming challenges, hardship and adversity, he was determined to prevail and succeed in life and worked days, while putting himself through High School, University and Law School at night.

He obtained his private pilots license at 17 years of age, graduated from Boone County High School, went on to obtain a B.B.A. from the University of Cincinnati and after moving to Houston, Texas, received his Law Degree from the University of Houston School of Law.

Pop became a very successful businessman, attorney, arbitrator, commercial developer, father, father-in-law and grandfather of two. He was the heart of his family and an integral part of everyday life for all of them. He was an example and role model for everyone around him.

Pop overcame more than his fair share of hardships and was a well-respected, well-loved man with a legacy of kindness, love and faith.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Annie and Mark Burroughs of Denton, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Dianne McKee of Phoenix, Arizona; his beloved grandchildren Madeline "Maddie" and Mark, Jr.; his sister, Delores Shields of Newport, Kentucky, and many much loved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters; Madeline Arsenault, Jessie Eastman, Betty Davis, and brother Gene McKee.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 5:30 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the home of Mayor Mark Burroughs, 17 Royal Oaks Circle, Denton, Texas.

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 11 A.M. at DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 W. University Drive, Denton, Texas, 76201.

A private family interment will follow at Sparkman-Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that a donation be made to Pop's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (
