Alice Elizabeth Harwell McKissack, 88, born December 22, 1924 to Richard Hudnel Harwell and Alice Elizabeth Ashworth Harwell in Corsicana, TX. She passed away September 12, 2013 with family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Preston McKissack Senior and her three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy McKissack Fletcher and husband John Fletcher, from Denton, TX her son, James Preston McKissack Jr. and wife Linda Bramlett McKissack, from Denton, TX and youngest son Bradley Jay McKissack and wife Susan Fox McKissack, from Denton, TX. She had seven grandchildren Lisa Fletcher, Melanie Hines, Larry Dan Dean Jr., Bradley Jay McKissack Jr., Bailey Heard, Chase Preston McKissack and James Preston McKissack III and five great grandchildren.

Alice McKissack was the rock, soul and glue of the McKissack Family. Everyone called her Nannie. Nannie loved people, she loved animals and she also loved her parties and family gatherings. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit and for making everyone she met feel like part of the family. She was the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family is what she cared about the most. Nannie will always remain in our hearts and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 15, 2013, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75243

The funeral will be held Monday, September 16, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home officiated by Dan Yarbrough.
