Arthur S. Greene

Arthur S. Greene, 87, a long-time resident of Denton, passed away at home on Wednesday September 25, 2013. He was born in Billings, MT on December 12, 1925, and married "his dear sweet spouse," Barbara on June 7th 1952 in Butte, MT. Then they started their sixty-two years together in Great Falls, MT.

Arthur was a graduate of the University of Montana, and was employed for several years in the banking business before accepting an appointment with the Social Security Administration in 1955. His assignments with Social Security extended across the states of Montana, Wyoming, Texas, and Oklahoma. He culminated his career as the manager of the SSA district office in Ponca City, OK.

Arthur is survived by his wife Barbara and three children, Cynthia, Paula, and his son Trent who is mentally handicapped. Mr. Greene was a devoted family man; he was a member of the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC), and spent many years working with the Special Olympics, including serving as a chaperone on many of their trips.

Arthur is also survived by four grandchildren, Brian, Gabriel, Ron, and Rylee, as well as his younger brother Timothy.

Arthur willed his body to UT Southwestern Medical Center. There are no services planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to ARC of Denton County, PO Box 1279 Denton, TX 76202.
