OLNEY — Eddie Joe Hughes, age 77, died on October 4, 2013 in Denton, Texas. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Scotte Clark, of Olney, officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Olney. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Eddie Joe was born in Springcreek, Texas on April 29, 1936 to the late Weldon Bollen and Bessie Evalena (Harris) Hughes. He was a lifelong resident of the Olney area and was a farmer and had worked in the oilfield. Eddie Joe was a member of the Church of Christ and a member of the American Legion. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1955 until 1958 and had been stationed at Kodiak, Alaska as a member of the P2V Squadron. He and Joyce Kunkel were married on October 5, 1961 in Olney, Texas. Joyce preceded him in death on April 30, 1998. He married Margaret Reynolds Schluter on December 31, 2005 in Olney, Texas.

Eddie Joe was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Hughes and a sister, Margaret Hampton.

Eddie Joe is survived by his wife, Margaret Hughes of Krum, Texas; brother, Carlton Hughes of Henrietta, Texas; son, Joe Hughes and wife Kelley of Olney, Texas; daughter, Lynn Dale Evans and husband Scott of Krum, Texas; four grandchildren: Baylie Brown of Nashville, Tennessee, Haylie Pittman and husband Callen of Olney, Texas, Abby Hughes of Olney, Texas, and Kassidy Brown of Krum, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Paxton Pittman.

Family visitation will be Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
