Virginia (Claypool) Schmidt of 2561 Cr 248, Valley View, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013.

She was born September 5, 1919 in Fort Worth, Texas to Lee Jefferson and Emma Magdalene (Courtney) Claypool. She married Cecil George Schmidt in 1945 in Gainesville, Texas.

Losing her mother in 1929 and her father in 1931 she was placed into the Masonic Orphanage Home in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 11. There she lived and attended school and graduated a Mighty Mite of the Masonic Home in 1937.

With the Masonic Home being close and dear to her heart she became a member of the Eastern Star and a very active member in her Quinlan Chapter. She held many offices during her 50 plus years of service. Grand Martha being her highest office, she loved every minute of every part she served.

Virginia was a long standing active member in the First United Methodist Church of Quinlan, Texas.

She was survived by a niece, Kathleen Swanson of Silverthorne, Colorado and cousins, Jo Ann Belz and Donna Trice of Valley View, Texas and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil George Schmidt in 1973.

A Memorial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 4th at the First United Methodist Church in Quinlan, Texas.
