Lorna Frances Bucklew, 92, of Denton, passed peacefully on October 31, 2013 in Roswell, NW.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Loyd "Pat" Bucklew in 1987 after nearly 50 years of marriage.

She is survived by her daughters, Bev Bucklew of Roswell, NM, Barbara Spencer of Tampa, FL; son-in-law, Steve Schmidt; step grandson, Dylan Schmidt; nieces, Teri Allison, Pam Kersh and her husband, Scott Sires; nephews, Doug Kersh, Steve and Lisa Kersh, David and Don Douglas, Rick and Vicki Williams and Jerry and Theresa Bucklew along with several grand-nieces & nephews.

Lorna, born in Peru, Indiana came to Texas in a covered wagon. She worked with her husband in their furniture & upholstery business of many years where she assisted clients with decorating and design.

As a war couple, Lorna and Pat were big fans of "big band" music and were skilled dancers. She was proud to raise two girls who both graduated college. They enjoyed seeing much of the US in their Airstream camper. She loved to sew, read, garden. In retirement one of her cherished uses of the sewing skill was to make hundreds of "Prayer Quilts" for soldiers in active duty or their families as well as for Church members. She enjoyed her activities at Trinity United Methodist Church in Denton.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 16th, 2:00PM, at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 833 Hobson Lane, Denton, TX 76205. Reverend Doctor James Bowden and Pastor John Peel will officiate. A reception will follow.

Daughters, Barbara and Bev want to especially honor cousins Pam Kersh, Scott Sires, Teri Allison, Jerry Bucklew for help in Lorna's later years. Thanks also to Betty Jane Morrison, Mary Ann Towery, Betty Easley and Gentiva Hospice of Roswell for support to Lorna.
