On March 26, 2014, Elmer "Dale" Walker, age 85, died of lung complications from cystic fibrosis and pneumonia in Denton Regional Hospital. There are no formal services planned; yet entombment of his body will occur on March 27, 2014, in Commerce, Texas.

Dale Walker was considered one of the true American Cowboys of his generation, living every aspect of its rich culture. Steeped with an extraordinary work ethic and an uncanny ability to bring expert craftsmanship to the building trade, Dale brought light to all of his business ventures, including his work during his latter years at The Home Depot in Denton, Texas. Dale was considered an "extra-miler," bringing an unbreakable bond of trust to his work comrades, as well as faithfully serving his loyal customer base.

Dale made it his ambition to lead a quiet life, to work hard with his hands, as well as to treat others with great respect. These were the qualities of his faith.

Dale is survived by his devoted, long-life friend, Bettye Sztamenits; and his family members - daughter, Wilda Faye and her husband, Rodney Manning of Vernon, TX; granddaughter, Schantey and her husband, Kevin Montgomery; and grandsons Rusell and Caden and great-grandson Blake of Knoxville, TN.
