Edward C. Hernandez, known by many as "Hondo", was born on September 13, 1935, in Bolivar, Texas, to Zepherino "Martin" and Andrea Cruz Hernandez. He passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014, at the age of 78, at his home in Sanger.
Hondo was a graduate of the Sanger High School Class of 1955. He served his country in the United State Air Force. On August 7, 1965, he married Margaret Joyce Howard in Denton, Texas. He retired from the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Sanger in 2012 and served on the Sanger Volunteer Fire Department. He and Margaret attended Freedom Life Church in Sanger.
A visitation will be held at Coker Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Freedom Life Church in Sanger with Pastors Dewey Lang and Gary Sweatman officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Sanger; daughter and son-in-law, Doy and JerrieAnn Knightstep of Krum; two sons, Billy and Terry Joe Dial of Sanger; one sister, Mary Sue (Hernandez) Ramirez of Dallas; four grandchildren, Andrew Dial of Lewisville, ReAnn Knightstep of Sanger, Breanna Canedo of Wichita Falls, and Jillian Lord of Midland; two great-grandchildren, Alden and Uriah Lord of Midland; and many nieces, nephews, friends and "adopted grandchildren." He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charlie Hernandez.
