Loy Walter Vaughn, 88, of Valley View, was born on March 28, 1926, in Sanger, Texas to Walter and Cora (Swindell) Vaughn and went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2014, in Plano, Texas, surrounded by his family.

Loy served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Months later, he had to be hospitalized and saw an angel in the hallway of the hospital. Once he learned that he was okay, he learned that the angel's name was Vivian Ables. They began dating and were married on September 13, 1947, in Gainesville, Texas. After 67 years of marriage, Loy said his life had been a bed of beautiful, sweet, yellow roses and with roses you always have a few thorns.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian, of Valley View; son, Paul, and Pam of Sanger; daughter, Becky, and John of Corinth; adopted family, Brenda and Ted of Argyle. He had 11 precious grandchildren that he loved and cherished every moment and they were special and dear to him. He also had 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; one sister, Linda Wiggins of Longview; sister-in-law, Virginia Travis and husband Bill, and sister-in-law Voncille Forgy. He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Loy; his parents, Walter and Cora; brother Cecil and sister, Julia.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Coker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Open Range Cowboy Church in Krum. Presiding over the services will be John Ritchie Johnson and Earl Bengston. The following grandchildren will carry him to his final resting place: Kathy Martin, Katty Stephens, Jonathan Brazzel, Jordan Brazzel, Emily Anderson, and Kristen Lawler. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Hicks and Danny Hicks.
