Mary Alberta Stricklin, 90 years of age, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, in Richland Hills, TX, at home surrounded by family. Mary was born April 11, 1924, in Fife, TX, to Stella C. (Milsap) and Rockey W. Forrester. She married Troy Stricklin, May 30, 1941, in Denton, TX, and was married for 71 years, was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederate, and Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Mary will always be remembered by her family as a loving mother, wife and homemaker.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Cherry Farrar of Richland Hills, TX, and Sharon Hanlon and husband William of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Earl Forrester, of Gun Barrel City, TX, and one sister, Dorothy Dell Chung, of Luxington, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Stricklin; parents, Stella and Rockey Forrester, one grandson, Billy Troy Hanlon; and five brothers, Charles Forrester, William Forrester, James Forrester, Rockey W. Forrester, and Authur Ragland. Also preceding Mary in death were four sisters, Ima Faye Stillwell, Nova Nell Austin, Evelyn Dean, and May Bell Forrester.

Visitation was at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Slay Memorial Funeral Center Chapel in Aubrey, TX. Funeral services followed the visitation at 11:00 a.m. also at Slay Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Wynn Guinn leading the service. Interment was at Pilot Point Community Cemetery in Pilot Point, TX.

Pallbearers were Curtis Rogers, James Curtis Rogers, Bretton Eason, William Hanlon, Steve Guinn, Ryan Guinn, Kevin Oviatt, Robert Finney and Forrest Chung.

Services were under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey. Online condolences may be registered at .
