Johnnie Mack Kennedy, 68, of Krum, passed away on June 27, 2014, in his home surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Plainview Baptist Church in Krum, Texas. He is survived by his wife Barbara Louise Kennedy; daughter, Sondra Dee Ann Yeatts and husband Ronnie Yeatts of Corinth, TX; daughter, Camie Lorene Sawyers and husband Dave Sawyers of Krum; son, John Alexander Kennedy and wife Ashley Nicole Kennedy of Ardmore, OK; and grandchildren, Ryan Yeatts, Sean Yeatts, Ariel Sawyers, Sara Kennedy, James Kennedy, and Brooklyn Kennedy. He was survived by Winfred Kennedy and wife Sharlette of Adams, North Dakota; Homer Kennedy and wife Libby of Tyler, TX; Shirley Connelly and husband Jerry of Odessa, TX; and Donald Ray Kennedy of Gardendale, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Johnnie Wayne Kennedy; sister, Barbara Lorene Lansford; and brother, Jerry Dwayne Kennedy.

Johnnie "John" Kennedy was born to the late Johnny William and Ruth Lorene Kennedy of Levelland, Texas, on May 16, 1946. John graduated from Odessa High School in 1966. He was a Helicopter Pilot in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was married to Barbara Louise Walton on May 2, 1970; they were married 44 years and resided in Krum. He was inducted into the Army Aviator Hall of Fame on March 29, 1986, at Fort Hustus, Virginia. He flew a Cobra Gunship AHIG for two years and 8 months in Vietnam for a total of 5,176 Combat Missions and 5,130 Combat Hours.
