Lucille Stockard

Lucille was born in Denton, Texas, January 15, 1923, to parents John Sidney and Rosa Lee Vance Stockard, as the youngest of their four daughters.

She lived in Denton with her parents for most of her life. The Stockards lived and raised their four daughters in Denton. Lucille moved to Lubbock in 1983 after her father died, and lived with her sisters Ruby Lee Douglass and Ola Mae Ewing. She also was able to live with her sister Jackie Uehlinger in Beaumont. These sisters all died in 2010. Lucille also resided at the Lubbock Mackenzie House and Lubbock Hospitality Home.

Lucille received her education from The Demonstration School located at North Texas State Teachers College, now University of North Texas. She was a loyal and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Denton and First Baptist Church in Lubbock.

Lucille was blessed with a sweet and pleasant spirit, and personality. She loved her family and her long-time friends in Denton, and her new friends in Lubbock. She was a joy to everyone she met.

Lucille will be missed by her nieces, nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She made a contribution of love and caring to each of us, and demonstrated a life of Christian values and love of God that we will cherish.

We will miss her, but rejoice that she is now with God and reunited with family and friends.

A visitation will be held for Lucille , at Sanders Funeral Home from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2014, and a graveside service Saturday, July 12, 2014, 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Denton.
