Otis Manuel Byrom, 70, of Aubrey, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, in Denton, TX. He was born January 27, 1944, in Denton, to Ivis Floyd and Virgie Mae (Hard) Byrom. He married Judy Kay Copeland on July 3, 1964, and just celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Otis was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather and a man with many friends. He was a peanut farmer and rancher, served nine years as the secretary of the Aubrey ISD School Board, and was an honorary member at Aubrey's House of Knowledge. He was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman, and in his later years he loved to Karaoke.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Aubrey; two sons, Otis and wife Dana Byrom, Jr., of Callisburg, Tony Byrom and fiance Julie Crawford of Aubrey; two daughters, Laurie and husband Danny Schertz of Decatur, Marcie and husband Phillip Kirby of Aubrey; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford and wife Karin Byrom of Aubrey, Larry and wife Lana Byrom of Pilot Point; two sisters, Melba Phares and Marsha Byrom, both of Denton; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Slay Memorial Chapel of Aubrey. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Krugerville with Sam Redfearn and Gene King officiating.
