Charles Edwin Sarten was born in Jefferson, Oklahoma, to Harvey Houston and Rosie B. (Askins) Sarten on February 1, 1930.

He joined the United States Army during the Korean War in 1952 and was discharged as a Sergeant First Class. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Acme Brick as a Maintenance Director.

He is survived by two sons, Alvin Sarten, Sr., and wife Sherrie Lynn of Corinth, Eddy Sarten and wife Melissa Lynn of Farmers Branch; two brothers, Glen Sarten of Lubbock and David Sarten of Buffalo Gap; one sister, Lynda Sue Mangum of Choctaw, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Jamie Shields, Charlsie Dendy, Blaine Sarten, Devin Sarten, Alvin Sarten, Jr., and Charles Sarten; six great-grandchildren, Ethan Dendy, Taylor Sarten, Lily Sarten, Kylie Sarten, Brody Sarten, and Alvin Sarten, III.

A visitation will be held at Coker Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, August 22, 2014, at the Sanger Cemetery Pavilion at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Sanger Cemetery.
