A Kroger grocery store sits at the corner of Carroll Boulevard and West University Drive. Right behind it is the North Texas Fair and Rodeo grounds.

We mention this because -- drum roll, please -- fair season in Texas is upon us.

And we can't wait to scarf down the food, get an adrenaline rush on the amusement rides, listen to some live music and admire some of the happiest and fattest livestock in America.

We might also spend a few bucks on the midway to win one of those big stuffed toys.

The North Texas Fair and Rodeo starts its nine-day run Friday. You can find all the information you need in a special section on the fair in today's Denton Record-Chronicle.

Don't miss the swimming pigs.
