Residents pick Denton’s best

We’ve counted the votes and the winners have been announced — the 2013 Best of Denton section is now available.

Each year, we ask our readers to name their favorite local businesses in several categories — from dining options to medical services to shopping to entertainment venues. We invite you to check out the winners and pay them a visit.

Odds are that you’ve already tried some of the businesses or may even be a regular visitor because they have been in the winners’ circle before — some more than once — but we can guarantee that even those businesses that are new to you are worth checking out. In fact, we’re betting that more than a few of the winners will soon be added to your favorites list.

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for the best place to buy a burger or the best jewelry store or even the best place to stock up on plants, this special section is where you’ll find the top reader recommendations.

Looking for a fashionable clothing store, a reliable real estate agent or a good place to work out? We have some outstanding recommendations for you.

This Readers’ Choice Award section is a perennial favorite because it provides a personal glimpse at some of the businesses that have helped make Denton famous for its hometown flavor. Information about each of the winners is included, offering insights about the business’ history, owner philosophy and some of the special offerings that helped it edge out the competition.

That hometown flavor we mentioned didn’t just happen overnight, you know. It was carefully blended and simmered to provide an experience unique to the city and its people. And the recipe has continued to change with the addition of new ingredients — that’s why the Best of Denton section continues to be a timely guide to the local business community.

Reader response is another reason why you can count on the recommendations listed in the Best of Denton section. We had 6,263 ballots submitted this year — which is almost double the number submitted last year. That means that the top three winners in each category come highly recommended.

When you get right down to it, there really is no place like Denton, and our selection of hometown businesses is one of the primary reasons we feel that way. You can count on these folks for great selection, price, service and an old-fashioned ingredient that sets them apart — they love what they do.

It really doesn’t matter if they’ve been in business for many years or if they’re new on the block — they’ll treat you right.

That’s why the businesses listed in this section are the Best of Denton and why we encourage you to get to know each of them better. They deserve your support.

If you haven’t already reviewed this year’s winners, you can find the 2013 Best of Denton section at our website, www.dentonrc.com.

We congratulate each of this year’s winners — thanks for doing such a great job and giving us your best.

And we also offer a special thanks to all the area residents who took the time to vote for their favorite places online. We hope your recommendations took the top spots.

But even if your favorites didn’t win, you can count on one thing — there are no losers here.
