City ‘fairy tales’
The city of Denton recently announced its intention of pulling all small recycling bins from service, citing its trucks inability to pick the small bins up with the mechanical arms. Interesting, as I have watched the trucks do just that for months.
The change has nothing to do with encouraging the consumer to recycle or with pickup difficulties.
The change was made to save the city money by having fewer pickups. The average homeowner will set the large bin out half as often as the small.
But the fallout is going to be blight on the neighborhoods as owners find they simply do not have room to store two gargantuan bins out of sight. And I can tell you from experience, the city does not enforce that code.
I do not like the downgrade in city services.
But do not make the matter worse by feeding me “fairy tales.”
