Human beings

A nonsensical religious belief politicians are imposing upon us is that a fertilized egg, a zygote, or a fetus, are living beings because they are comprised of living tissue and that God is involved; this belief is against the Bible.

The Bible compares God to a master potter who makes what he likes and discards what he doesn’t. After fertilization, 50 percent to 70 percent of zygotes are flushed out of the woman’s body.

Of those implanted in the womb, 25 percent are miscarried by the sixth week. Of the remainder, 7 percent to 10 percent are miscarried or stillborn.

Gestation is simply a bodily function like any other. This discarding can occur freely because this is living tissue, not living beings; God discards or aborts what he doesn’t want.

When the gestation period is completed and the newborn infant sucks in air, it is a living being. The Bible says, “… The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being,” Gen. 2:7. Usually, people ignore the last six words, but it defines a living being — one who breathes.

In the past, people had enough good sense to realize that one did not give legal rights, martial rights or property rights to miscarriages or stillborn. Today, infirm theologians cannot make the distinction between the process of forming a human being out of living tissue and the product, a living human being.
