ELECTION LETTERS DEADLINE
The Denton Record-Chronicle welcomes letters from our readers about the Denton school district’s $312 million bond package. To be considered for publication, letters must be in our office by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28. No letters about the bond election will be published after Saturday, Nov. 2.
Republicans are desperate to convince Americans that their plan to keep millions of eligible voters across the country from exercising their constitutional right to vote is a good and noble thing.
Even though Republicans haven’t been able to show any credible evidence of widespread voter fraud, they are more than willing to enact unconstitutional, un-American laws to make it difficult for many likely Democratic voters to cast their ballots.
An election in which large groups of the electorate are denied their right to vote would be an election with no integrity whatsoever.
If the Republicans forcing these restrictions on us were truly concerned about the integrity of the vote, they would be conducting huge campaigns to notify voters of the upcoming changes.
There would be a grace period of several national elections to let people know if they did not have proper ID. The state governments would be setting up offices all over the states to help people get the proper ID and find and notify all eligible voters of the new requirements and how to get ID at no cost to the voter.
But the Republicans aren’t doing any of this. And that is why the Republican Party has no integrity.
