Remarkable collection

Brett Jones has put together a wonderful exhibit of John F. Kennedy and presidential memorabilia at The Antique Gallery in the Stonehill Center on Loop 288 at Interstate 35 here in Denton.

I would encourage everyone to come by and visit this truly remarkable collection of historical material.

A centerpiece of this outstanding collection is an original framed invitation to the “Texas Welcome Dinner” on the evening of Nov. 22, 1963, at the Memorial Auditorium in Austin.

After that dinner, President Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy were scheduled to spend the night at the Lyndon B. Johnson ranch. As we all know, that never happened because JFK was so terribly and tragically assassinated earlier in the day in Dallas.

The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday (today) through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday through Dec. 29. There is no charge for admission.
